10 Faves in My Uni Room
As I'm coming towards the end of my first year of uni, I thought I'd share some of my favourite things from my room in student accommodation with you...
For me, plants are such an essential part of a living space. I love flowers and any little plant to brighten up a room, and they don't have to cost much. I've heard that succulents can be a great plant for uni accommodation as they can often survive without being watered daily and they don't have to be placed in direct sunlight (mine was from Sainsbury's). After being in student accommodation for a few months, I must've decided that one plant wasn't enough because I bought a bonsai tree from my students' union (I just couldn't resist having a little tree in my room), and I got a cactus as well as I've always loved them. Also, while shopping for food and definitely not plants, I ended up buying a little plant in a cat-shaped pot from Tesco because it was so sweet and brightened up my room a bit! I'd definitely recommend plants for any uni room and if real ones are too much hassle, artificial plats can look just as nice!

Hedgehog Slippers
These have proved to be one of the most useful things I took to my uni accommodation! The last thing you want is to walk into a kitchen with things spilled on the floor and crumbs scattered around in bare feet. Obviously I also love them because they look like hedgehogs and they're really comfy! I bought these from Dorothy Perkins a few years ago so I'm not sure if they still sell the same ones but they do often have other animal-shaped slippers.Glass Bottles
I bought these glass bottles from New Look and I just think they're great to use when I'm in my room, - they're kept together tidily and it stops me leaving lots of glasses around the place. The designs are really cool with the flamingo and pineapple prints and I also love the striped straws.Lights
Fairy lights and pretty LEDs are something I just can't get enough of. I've found them so cosy and pretty that they've been some of my fave features in my room and put me in a better mood if I ever felt homesick or a bit stressed with work. The 'dream' LED light and the moon fairy lights were from New Look, and the star fairy lights were from Urban Outfitters - I particularly like the way the the fairy lights cast little shapes of light around them too. I'd definitely recommend putting any pretty fairy lights or LEDs in any room to brighten it up and mike it twinkle!Whiteboard Magnets
I thought that the whiteboard in the flat needed a bit of shine adding to it so I bought these magnets from Wilko. They're great for holding up notes and generally making it look a lot prettier!Fluffy Cushions
These fluffy cushions work so well with the pink and grey theme of my room. I love how soft and comforting they are, making the perfect spot for watching films are relaxing. The heart-shaped cushion is a very light pink and I bought it from New Look; the grey one is from Wilko. For a more homely atmosphere, I think fluffy cushions are great and I'll be looking to buy maybe a couple more for next year.Photos and Photo Albums
Having photos around your room is great to remind you of family/friends/events. I have photos stuck on my walls and also in a photo frame, but what I've also found quite useful is having photo albums. The large photo album was from The Works and holds regular-sized photos - I love anything with maps on because I can spend ages thinking about places to visit; the small photo album was from Urban Outfitters and holds polaroid photos. Since I got a Fujifilm Instax camera, the small polaroid one is great and I've recently bought a grey one too (also from Urban Outfitters).Clock
Something I knew that I'd like for my room was an alarm clock with little bells on the top. This one was from Asda and it's a perfect fit for my room - the rose gold matches the rest of the decor and it's small enough to fit on my bedside table.Calendar Block
This was one of the first items I decided to have for my uni room - I'd seen similar ones in different shops and I just knew I'd love one! I love having things to help me stay organised (diaries, calendars, etc), so this was another thing to help me do just that! Admittedly, it is just like a calendar without the writing space, but I love what it adds to the decor of my room and it does have practical aspects too. As well as being a general indicator of the date, I've used it to remind myself of how close a particular date is (like birthdays and visiting home). This one was from Debenhams and it works so well with the colours in my room; I love the pastel colours and the gold numbering.
(I thought I'd set it to the date of my birthday for this picture)
